Mary Pinola Water Safety/Learn-to-Swim Program Endowment

Water Safety/Learn-to-Swim Program Endowment for Pasadena’s Children

After 30 years, Mary Pinola, the Director of Development retired on March 31, 2020.  Mary’s passion, commitment, vision, caring, and creativity were instrumental in achieving many incredible projects.

However, none of these projects is more valuable than the Water Safety/Learn-to-Swim Program which provides ALL 1,450 third-grade students in ALL 17 elementary schools in Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) with 15 swim lessons. Almost 30,000 students have learned to swim through this program, their lives forever enriched.

Learning to swim saves lives and is especially important to Pasadena’s children because 80%+ of PUSD students have no aquatic experience.
Research shows that if a child doesn’t learn to swim by the time he or she finishes 3rd grade, he or she likely never will.

Please join us in making a contribution to the Water Safety/Learn-to-Swim Fund will have benefits for this generation as well as Pasadena’s future generations.
