Water Fitness

Water Fitness

Jump right in – the Water is great!

Our popular Water Fitness classes take place in the Recreational Pool (86 degrees) and Therapy Pool (91 degrees). The properties of water provide low impact to the weight-bearing joints, increases circulation, and strengthens muscles in all directions of movement. Aquatic exercise is an appropriate and effective option for beginners, weekend warriors, and athletes. Classes focus on cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility.

To ensure we are functioning in the most efficient way possible, changes have been made to the registration process and to the structure of how the RBAC offers Water Fitness classes.

A new “Sessions” format will be implemented to register for the Water Fitness program. Classes will be sold on a monthly basis with the option to attend once-a-week classes or twice-a-week classes. This format allows the center to:

  • Offer flexible scheduling
  • Reserve a patrons spot in the class
  • Increase participation
  • Provide the instructor with accurate rosters of their classes

To ensure space for everyone, we are asking patrons to limit their class registrations to no more than two classes per month. When restrictions ease up and classes are added to the schedule, we will revisit allowing additional class registrations.

All classes are 45 minutes long.

Knowing how to swim is not required, however, you must feel comfortable in the Water. Please inform your instructor of your inability to swim.

*Participants must be able to independently perform skills and must be ambulatory with or without an assistive device.

CURRENT & UPCOMING SESSION DATES

Current Session: June 1st – June 30th

This technique allows for maximum strengthening results in the least amount of time while decreasing the chances of muscular imbalances. The aquatic setting creates a unique opportunity to increase anaerobic strength; the viscosity of the water provides a velocity-based resistance that you can easily adjust to suit your fitness level, while the buoyancy helps protect joint damage associated with impact. Each class consists of a warm-up, supersets targeting alternating muscle groups, and a cool down and stretching period at the end.
