Strength & Conditioning Programs

We are a multifunction fitness facility dedicated to mending the broken, empowering the able, and optimizing the performing. With the vast array of resources at our disposal, within the Center and without, the path is available for us to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Run, jump, lift, and challenge yourself with the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center’s Strength Coaches. This facility is equipped with over 25 state-of-the-art machines including: treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, a shoulder press, an arm curl, a lap pull down, cable crossover and more, for a well-balanced and successful work-out. Access to the Weight Room is included in your monthly membership.

The Weight Room is located at the Northwest corner of the Center and is open during regular Center hours. Individuals over 15 years are welcome.

Functional Fitness
Functional Fitness

A general fitness program meant to utilize everything we have available from the weight room to the pools, parks, and fields in around the RBAC.  We mesh a wide variety of methodologies into interval-based training to achieve an awesome workout.  Every workout is tailored to individual goals and abilities.

Supplemental Dry-Land training explicitly geared for swimmers.  Focus in on core strength, stroke strength, and kick power.  Workouts are built to increase performance in the water through bodyweight, weightlifting, and flexibility exercises.

Dive Team Strength Training
Dive Team Strength Training

Dryland training to develop power, kinesthetic awareness, and body control to enhance performance in diving. 14 and over focus on weight training development under supervision of Coach Mike.  Under 14 focus on bodyweight core and plyometric exercises with Coach Camden.

Water Polo Strength Training
Water Polo Strength Training

Dryland training to develop overall athleticism through strength, speed, size, and explosiveness in the water.  Athletes in off-season receive extensive strength and conditioning development using both weight training and calisthenic and plyometric bodyweight exercises.  In-season training focuses on maintaining optimal strength levels and increasing durability to prevent injury.  The goal is to make the players better pure athletes, thus improving capability in the water.

We are developing swim-specific strength and power with a high emphasis on injury-prevention and improvements in baseline athleticism.  Using weight training, calisthenics, and bodyweight exercises, we are aiming to improve force production and work capacity in kicks and pulls of all strokes.

What does the Fitness Department offer?

Personal training sessions include a full assessment, work-outs tailored to your needs and nutritional counseling.

What is Functional Fitness?

In Functional Fitness, we approach fitness through a variety of methods to maximize the movements of which our bodies are capable. Elements of endurance sports, interval training, weightlifting, and gymnastics are meshed together into fun, fast, group workouts. The benefits of Functional Fitness are wide ranging, from increased energy, weight management, and increases in strength and muscle, we pride ourselves in achieving your goals safely and efficiently. Functional Fitness will help sport-specific athletes such as swimmers or triathletes, who will benefit from the constant variety and intensity seen in the workouts.

Will I be able to do Functional Fitness?

Yes!  All abilities are welcome. Those will limited experience are encouraged to do a few sessions of Personal Training to familiarize yourself with the movements and methods.  That being said, all are encouraged to come try out a Functional Fitness group.

How Do I Start Functional Fitness?

Everybody’s first class is free!  Come and try it out and our trainer staff will get you started on the right path!
