Water Fitness

Water Fitness

Welcome back to the Water Fitness Program! With the recent guidelines due to COVID-19, we have made some changes to the program to ensure the safety of patrons and staff alike. Please ensure you follow all protocols to keep everyone safe and healthy.

  • Each person may sign up for one activity per day, and reservations must be made in advance. Same-day reservations will be allowed as capacity permits. i.e.: You may not lap swim and take a water fitness class on the same day.
  • Reservations must be made online. If you need assistance, please call Customer Service at 626-564-0330 and they will help walk you through the process.
  • Reservations will be available a week at a time, Monday through Sunday. Reservations will be taken starting on the preceding Wednesday at 10 am.
  • Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to your reservation for a credit. No refunds.
  • Water fitness classes in the Recreational Pool will have a per-class rate of $5. Water fitness classes in the Therapy Pool will have a per-class rate of $11.  Passes will be on hold and extended until we can reopen in a normal operating capacity.
  • We ask that everyone use the restroom prior to arriving at the RBAC.
  • We ask each user to arrive 15 minutes before their class begins.
  • We ask that everyone wear a cover-up, sweats, or parka that is easily removed, over their bathing suits to expedite entry to the pool.
  • Each user must shower at the RBAC before entering the pool.
  • There will be no access to the lockers.
  • It is recommended that individuals needing to use the facilities will use the on-deck Accessible/Family Changing Rooms.
  • Directional signage will be utilized to guide user foot traffic to provide for physical distancing.
  • Each user should bring their own water bottles; the bottle water filling station will be available, but the water fountain will be closed.

For those who have passes, when we closed on March 15th, all passes were suspended in time. Simply put, whatever time you had remaining on your pass will still be in effect when we return to normal operations.
Currently, we aren’t able to offer you an “RBAC full experience” that would be afforded to you if you had a pass. The locker room, spas, and gym are closed, we are limiting your time in the facility on a daily basis, lounge chairs aren’t available, etc.

We realize that a “pay as you go” system for pass holders is new for our facility. We accept that this is different, but for now, we believe that this is the fairest and most equitable way to reopen, as safely as possible, with limited capacity and great requirements on contact tracing and pre-registration. Things may change as the weeks’ progress and once we can open in a more full capacity, we will once again activate your pass.

Procedures for Water Fitness Classes in the Recreational Pool:

* Patrons will line up outside the lobby doors
* A staff member will take each person’s temperature and do a health screening.
* A staff member will direct patrons to the showers either in the locker rooms or to the north end of the Recreational Pool (sitting will not be available during showers).
* Wear an easily removable robe/cover up and easy to remove shoes.
* Patrons will be directed to the Rec Pool mid deck near the stairs.
* Patrons will place their belongings on tables
* Patrons will be given a position in the pool based on a number/color quadrant. Colored cones will be lined along the stair side of the pool and numbers will be on the north deck of the pool. A staff member will direct patrons to a socially distant spot in the pool (ie: red 9, blue 4, etc..)
* After the class, the instructor will direct patrons on how to exit the pool.
* Quickly put your clothing/cover up back on and exit the pool at the direction of the staff.

Supersetting

Join us for this brand new strengthening class which borrows elements from high intensity interval training and traditional strength training to increase muscle strength and endurance! Supersetting, a popular strengthening technique, simply means chaining together multiple strengthening exercises. In this class, we will be taking it a step further and focus on “antagonistic supersetting”, which involves consecutively training opposing muscle groups. This technique allows for maximum strengthening results in the least amount of time while decreasing the chances of muscular imbalances. The aquatic setting creates a unique opportunity to increase anaerobic strength; the viscosity of the water provides a velocity based resistance that you can easily adjust to suit your fitness level, while the buoyancy helps protect joint damage associated with impact. Each class consists of a warm up, supersets targeting alternating muscle groups, and a cool down and stretching period at the end.

A typical AquaKick class consists of a warm up period, moving and stationary exercises, and a cool down and stretching period. In this class, you can expect to have a good time as you punch, kick, and jump your way to a fitter and healthier lifestyle!
