Our popular water fitness classes focus on both cardiovascular and strength training and are appropriate for everyone from beginners, to weekend warriors, to athletes.

Jump right in – the water is great! Our popular water Fitness Classes take place in the Recreation Pool (86°) and Therapy Pool (91°). The properties of water provide low impact to the weight-bearing joints, increase circulation, and strengthen muscles in all directions of movement. Aquatic exercise is an appropriate and effective option for individuals unable to exercise on land, beginners, weekend warriors and athletes. Classes focus on cardiovascular stamina, strength and flexibility. It’s a great way to burn fat, build muscle and have FUN! Knowing how to swim is not required however, you must feel comfortable in the water. Please inform your instructor of your inability to swim.

Benefits of a warm water workout: The warm water temperature 91 degrees of the Therapy Pool increases circulation, flexibility and promotes relaxation. The properties of water make aquatic exercise a safe, effective exercise option for many people. Individuals who are unable to exercise on land find they are able to participate in aquatic-based program with great success.  

*Participants must be able to independently perform skills and must be ambulatory with or without an assistive device.

This is a unique aquatic workout that benefits women and men of all ages and levels. It combines the elements of cardio, muscle strengthening, balance and flexibility. This workout allows the freedom to play with water resistance using the Acquapole® as a multi-functional workstation.

This exciting class combines basic boxing and kicking drills to work cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength. The unique properties of water provides resistance plus low impact and is a great exercise alternative for adults of all ages and ability levels.

Bump & Beyond Pre-Post Natal Water Fitness
Bump & Beyond Pre-Post Natal Water Fitness

This class is perfect for mothers-to-be who are challenged by their changing body and new moms who would like to get back in shape! Mothers-to-be are supported by the buoyancy of the water and flotation belts and can often do exercises that would not be possible on land. The water decreases the effects of gravity on the body, decreasing the stress on joints and muscles. The gentle exercise helps reduce swelling that can be caused by decreased venous return. After giving birth, moms often benefit from the exercises that help to gradually rebuild stamina and restore normal body weight.

This high energy workout promotes cardiovascular endurance and core strengthening in the shallow and deep water. It integrates a variety of low and high intensity exercises, including aqua jogging and running. This class is a great cross training option for runners and an excellent way to maintain conditioning while recovering from injuries.

Functionally Fit & Functionally Fit is for the intermediate/advanced exerciser with neuromuscular difficulties. This class utilizes various movement patterns designed to challenge core and balance. Exercises will also target flexibility, coordination, as well as muscular strength and endurance. The ultimate goal is enhanced performance in activities of daily living.

Acquapole Workstations

The Acquapole® components include:

  • Tone – using the pole to strengthen core, arms and legs and improve flexibility.
  • Boxing Bag – exercises performed in cycles; many derived from the fundamentals of Boxing and Kickboxing.
  • T-Traction – expands exercises for upper body and abdominals.
  • Elastic Bands – increases muscle-tendon elasticity and strength of different muscle groups.

What Water Fitness classes are offered?

We offer over 18 different Water Fitness Classes Monday through Sunday all year round, rain or shine. Our program utilizes both the Therapy and Recreation pools and meet mornings, early afternoons and evenings.

How do I purchase a RBAC Water Fitness Pass?

How much does a Water Fitness class cost?

Prices vary depending on the type of class and pass you select.

Do I need to register for the class beforehand?

Yes, Therapy Pool Water Fitness classes require registration. Space is limited and we highly recommend pre-registering to reserve your space.

No, Recreational Pool Water Fitness classes do not require registration. Check in at the front desk.

What to bring to Water Fitness class:

Proper swim attire is required for all patrons entering the pool.

Towel, sandals or water shoes, hat,

Apply sunscreen 30 minutes prior to your class.

Lock to use the lockers in the locker room.
