Adaptive Preschool Beginner: 3 - 6 years-of-age
Adaptive School Age Beginner: 6 - 13 years-of-age
Water Exploration Entry Level Requirement: This child has little swimming experience or has previously been enrolled in swim lessons, and is willing to get in the water.
This level is designed to help students feel comfortable in the water. Children will learn how to enter and exit the pool safely, hold their breath, blow bubbles, and put their face in the water. They will learn how to float, glide, and swim unassisted.
Adaptive Preschool Intermediate: 3 - 6 years-of-age
Adaptive School Age Intermediate: 6 - 13 years-of-age
Primary/Stroke Readiness Skills Entry Level Requirement: Child must be able to glide/paddle 5-10 feet unassisted with face in the water then lift head out of the water for one unassisted breath.
Children will learn both front flutter kick and how to travel through the water with a basic Paddle stroke. They will learn to bob unassisted with bubbles and float on their back unassisted. Children will learn to come up for a breath independently and rhythmically. They will become comfortable with distance and deep water swimming.
Adaptive Preschool Advanced: 3 - 6 years-of-age
Adaptive School Age Advanced: 6 -13 years-of-age
Stroke Readiness/ Development Entry Level Requirement: Child must be able to paddle stroke 10-15 feet unassisted with face in the water and repeatedly blow bubbles and come up for a breath. Child must be able to bob unassisted with proper inhale and exhale breathing.
The objective of this level is to achieve con?dence with water independence. They will learn to bob unassisted with bubbles and ?oat on their back unassisted. Children will learn to come up for a breath independently and rhythmically. They will become comfortable with distance and deep water swimming, which leads to the
introduction of the components of Freestyle and Backstroke. Treading water and recovery to a swimming position is taught. Complete independence is the ultimate goal.
For children who exceed these requirements, Stingrays is suggested. Stingrays is a swim team for young individuals with special needs, ages 6 - 17 years old. This program focuses on stroke development, endurance, strength overall health, and provides opportunities for individual instruction and team building.
