How are the facilities at the Rose Bowl

The facilities at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center are world-class in quality and management (the United States Olympic Swim Team trained here prior to departing for the 2002 Sydney Summer Olympics).  The center has two outdoor 50-meter (Olympic length) pools available for use almost every day of the year.  The east pool has a diving well and is configured for a mixture of 25-yard length swimming as well as a shallow area for water aerobics and the diving well for use by visiting diving teams.  The west pool is configured for dedicated lap swimming in either 50-meter or 25-yard lengths, depending on the season and schedule.  The masters program uses the lap pool for its workout sessions.  For more information (and pictures) visit the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center web site: www.rosebowlaquatics.org.
Is there any weight training available for Masters Swimmers?

There is a weight room available for patron use but the masters swimming program does not offer a guided weight training regimen.
My schedule is unpredictable.  Does that effect my eligibility to join the Masters team?

Everyone understands the demands imposed by family and professional work schedules and thus, you do not have to start and stop in unison with the team. However, the value of participating with a team will provide you with the greatest benefit in your swimming efforts.  Ideally, you should start your workout with the group and finish as much of the workout as possible.
Do RBAC Masters swimmers attend organized events?

There are a few traditional competitive events normally attended by many Rose Bowl masters swimmers.  One is the annual Maui Channel Relay swim event held every year in Maui, Hawaii around Labor Day.  The other is a Western Division Masters Swimming event, usually held at the University of Arizona in mid-February.  There are other events attended by smaller groups or even individual swimmers.  Follow the Competitions link for more information or visit Southern Pacific Masters Association for more swimming information: www.spma.net.
Can I follow the workouts on my own hours?

This option is available only in certain limited circumstances.  See Chad for more information if you strongly desire to follow the masters workouts on your own individual time.
Is Coach Chad really from Canada?

Chad was born in the Lethbridge, Alberta, while his parents were attending school at BYU.  Chad received birth certificates for both Canada and the United States and lived stateside for several years before returning north and graduating from high school and college in Canada.  Chad is always excited to describe his favorite moose and bear-evasion stories.
