Head Development Coach James Gallagher
Rose
Bowl Swim Team is delighted and proud to announce a new addition to our
coaching staff. In August, Coach James Carl Gallagher joined the Rose
Bowl as a full-time staff member working under Head Coach Jeff Julian
and Kristine Quance as a Head Rose Buds Coach and Assistant Age Group
Coach.
Coach
James Gallagher is an ASCA Level 3 coach and has been coaching
professionally since 1988. During that time he has held the positions of
Assistant Coach, Head Age Group Coach, Head Coach, Team Owner and
Aquatics Director for teams and facilities in Arizona, California and
Texas. This background has given him valuable experience in all facets
of swimming and building and running a swim team, including coaching and
goal setting for all age groups, hiring and supervising assistant
coaches, board and parent relations, all aspects of swim meets from
entries through organizing and directing meets such as the Grand Canyon
State Games, team billing, equipment orders and sales, team public
relations and fundraising, and all aspects of aquatics facility
operations. He has been Girls 10 and Under coach for the Arizona Western
Zone’s Meet; and has coached Arizona and Texas State Champions. In
addition, he has produced National Recordable and Top 16 swimmers. In
addition, Coach Gallagher has coached children with special needs
including a child with autism.
Coach James Gallagher began swimming at 9 years of
age and began coaching at 17 years. While he has coached all age
groups, he is known for building a special rapport with 12 & Under age
groups. Being a big Disney buff, he tries to regularly bring an element
of playfulness to the workouts. His swimmers have always exhibited
strong technical skills, enthusiasm, good sportsmanship and a love of
the sport. Throughout, he encourages swimmers to commit to setting and
achieving personal and team goals that focus on individual improvement,
not just ribbons and awards.
James is married and has a 2 year old daughter. He
is proficient with Hy-Tek’s Team Manger, Meet Manger, Workout Manager
and Business Manager, as well as Word, Excel, Publisher and Front Page.
He will be a valuable asset and an excellent addition to our team. We
are pleased to have him become part of the Rose Bowl Family.
