In an effort to better serve the needs of our Learn to Swim participants, we offer group lessons...

Levels I - VI for Schoolage children 6 to 13 years old

  1. REGISTRATION: Registrations for 4 and 5-week sessions will open on Saturday at 10:00am, one week before the start of each session. Registration for 2-week sessions will open the Saturday before the first day of class. Registration will remain open during regular business hours on a first come first serve basis until classes are full. While waiting in line on registration day, registration phone calls CANNOT be made from the line and will not be accepted. Registrations by fax, mail or email are NOT ACCEPTED. Registration MUST be made in person or over the phone.

  2. PRE-REGISTRATION: If your child is CURRENTLY registered in the current session, you may pre-register for the next session beginning only on the pre-registration date. Pre-registration will open on Wednesday starting at 10:00am, a week and a half before the start of each session.

  3. PLEASE REGISTER FOR SWIM LESSONS CAREFULLY. In order that your child has a positive experience in our group lessons, it is important that he/she is registered in the appropriate swim level. We will not keep a child in a class that does not meet his/her needs. Before registering for the next session be sure to communicate with your child's instructor in order to determine the appropriate level to register your child in. In the event that we must move a child to another level, we cannot guarantee that space will be available in the appropriate class.

  4. LEVEL EVALUATION: If your child has not taken lessons at our facility before and is not a beginning swimmer, we will help you determine what level is appropriate for your child. The Course Descriptions and Entry Level Requirements will assist you in determining the appropriate level for you child. If you are still unsure after reading it please call our Group Lesson Information line @ (626) 564-0330 ext. 405 or 408 we will be glad to assist you.

  5. LEVEL COMPLETION: The American Red Cross and the RBAC swim programs encourage and support children to learn at their own pace and comfort level. Please do not expect your child to complete an entire level in one session.

  6. SWIM CLASS SCHEDULE: Learn to swim class schedules are available one week before Registration opens . You can see which classes are being offered at which times by picking up a Swim Times flyer at the front desk or by visiting our web site at www.rosebowlaquatics.org.

  7. MAKE-UPS & REFUNDS: There are NO MAKE-UPS OR REFUNDS for missed classes. The Director of Swim Lessons will issue credits ONLY for medically excused absences with a Dr. note. In the event that classes are canceled by the RBAC due to circumstances beyond our control, a class credit will be issued.

  8. PARENT/INFANT CLASSES: No evaluation is needed to register. Children must wear a swim diaper or a swimsuit with built in tight fitting rubber elastic around the waist and legs. NO OTHER DIAPERS ARE PERMITTED. High Point Swim at the RBAC sells reusable Swimsuit diapers. (not always guaranteed in stock).

  9. PRIVATE LESSONS: The RBAC believes that children generally learn better in groups. Therefore, we recommend and encourage group lessons. However, we do offer 30-minute private lessons by appointment only, to both children & adults whose needs are better met by individual instruction. Private lessons are offered only as instructor availability and pool space permits. Private lessons during the Summer Sessions are very limited. If you are put on a waiting list we recommend that you enroll in group lessons until a Private lesson becomes available. If you are interested in private lessons you may fill out a Private Lesson form at the front desk.  If you would like to schedule a private lesson today please call the Swim Lessons Coordinator at (626) 564-0330 ext 411.

  10. SCHOLARSHIPS: Part of the AAF Rose Bowl Aquatics Center mission is to provide everyone the opportunity to participate in aquatic activities regardless of their ability to pay. The Center is pleased to offer scholarships for our group lesson program to those who qualify. Please pick up a scholarship application at the front desk.

No children of opposite gender over 3 years old are allowed in the main locker rooms. Please use the adjacent restrooms for dressing young children who require assistance, when a same gender caregiver is not present.
