Parent-Infant Swim Lessons
AAF Rose Bowl Aquatics Center American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim
BABIES REALLY CAN LEARN TO SWIM!!!
The RBAC provides a positive learning environment for your child. In
order to foster a life-long love for the water, it is vital for babies and
toddlers to feel that they have choices and that they will be allowed to learn
at their own pace. Practicing patience, building trust and encouragement
are the keys to your baby's swimming success and go along way. Experience
tells us that babies can & do swim when they are ready.
WE NEVER USE FORCEFUL SUBMERSION!
Forcefully submersing or making a child swim on their own before they are
ready is not a positive experience, and more importantly, it is an unsafe
practice. It tends to scare most children and often creates a deep-seated
resistance to the learning process.
PARENT/ INFANT INSTRUCTORS
Here at the RBAC, our experienced instructors only teach safe, positive, and
effective methods that parents can use to get their babies swimming happily and
safely!
All Parent/Infant instructors show a love for babies and are specially trained
through the RBAC training program. They specialize in working with babies
and understanding the developmental stages in order to successfully get babies
swimming.

FAQ
NOTE: No children of opposite sex over 3 years old are allowed in the main locker rooms. Please use the adjacent restrooms
for dressing young children who require assistance, when a same sex caregiver is not present.
BEGINNER BABIES
No entry level requirements are necessary. Gently stretching a child's
comfort level by suing songs, games, and the special bond that already exists
between a parent and child, helps to build a child's confidence and will allow
them to feel safe, happy, and secure as they begin to explore a water
environment.
INTERMEDIATE BABIES
In order to enroll in Intermediate child must be
willing and able to put his/her face in the water and blow bubbles on their own.
With the confidence and security developed from Parent/Infant Beginner class,
the child is able to independently put their face in the water on their own and
blow bubbles. Still using songs, games, and strengthening that special
bond with the parent the child will be comfortable enough to feel the buoyancy
of the water and eventually swim on their own.
